Principal Armstrong's Message
As we move from October to November I have many thoughts that run through my mind. I know that soon we will have an opportunity to use the freedom to vote to express our views to elected officials and to elect those who we feel will represent us the very best. This privilege and opportunity is very dear and important to me. I hope that all those who are eligible take advantage of this great right that we have. I hope that we are teaching our children that this is something that is very important by the example that we give to them. Our children will soon be the leaders of our cities, states, and nation so I want them to realize the importance of the great democracy that we live in. This country means a lot to me. I hope that we are instilling patriotism in our children. On November 3rd elections will be held and I hope everyone gets out to vote.
Also in November we will be holding a patriotic week. I encourage each of you to take the time to talk to your students about the greatness of our country and encourage students to participate in all of the activities that take place during the week. We will be honoring veterans during this week. As a veteran myself, I feel that it is nice to be honored but even more important we must help children to know and understand that freedom comes with a price. The importance of this freedom cannot be stressed enough. We must all do our part to make sure that we continue to have the freedoms that we hold so dear.
This is a great time of the year. Teachers are able to instruct without too many interruptions. I have seen many good things taking place here at school. I know that we are blessed by having many very dedicated teachers with the desire to see every student successful. Please take the time to let our great teachers know how much you appreciate all that they do for your students. Many teachers never hear about the good things that they are doing and sometimes become discouraged.
I want to thank all of you who were able to come to our parent teacher conferences and who are working closely with your student’s teacher to make sure that they succeed in school. Also I would like to thank those who made our book fair a success. We are able to improve our library with the money earned. We have a great school and that is because of all those who are part of our community (parents, students, teachers and patrons).
We are starting to see the effects of the flu season at our school. We have several students who have been out with the flu this year. We must all do our part to make sure that we do our best to control the spread of the flu. If you notice any of the symptoms of the flu, please keep your students home until the symptoms are no longer there. We will work with you to help your students catch up on what they miss. We do need all students to be in attendance unless they are sick. Please try to make sure that your students do not miss school unless they are sick.
Thank you for all you do!!
