BUS TRANSPORTATION (A moving adventure!)

For a safe and enjoyable ride to and from school, children should be reminded frequently about the rules of good behavior on the bus:

  1. Keep aisles clear and remain seated until the bus stops.
  2. Use quiet voices.
  3. No live animals or glass containers allowed on buses.
  4. Follow the directions of the bus driver.
  5. Enter and exit the bus in an orderly manner.
  6. Consistent failure to abide by these rules of good behavior could result in the loss of the privilege to ride the bus. Students who ride a bus to school are expected to ride the bus home from school unless parents notify the office of alternative plans.

FIELD TRIPS (Hooray-a road trip!)

Field trips within our city and to nearby points of interest may be scheduled occasionally during the school year. These trips are designed to supplement different aspects of the classroom curriculum and to introduce students to the resources of the community. Grade level donations to help defray this cost are welcome and are very much appreciated.

Parents must sign a general Field Trip Permission Form for each child. However, a detailed note will be sent home about each field trip. Students will need to purchase a school lunch if the field trip extends into the lunch period. Be aware that special dress may be requested for some field trips.

Often, parents are invited to help supervise field trips. As a field trip supervisor, it is not appropriate for parents to bring other children.

STUDENT SAFETY (Watch those cars!)

Parents, please review with your children the importance of being safety-minded as they go to and from school. Students need safety reminders every few weeks. We will do our part at school in regularly reminding students of safety issues and urge you to do the same at home.

Children should use crosswalks when crossing the street. It is also helpful to discuss awareness of personal property of others. Please remind children not to cut through yards, hop fences, or pick fruit or flowers belonging to others. We want to be good neighbors in our community!

PARENT DROP-OFF & PICK-UP GUIDELINES

The first drop-off area (east entrance to the school) is reserved at all times for buses only. Buses deliver and pick-up our students ten times per day so the bus area must remain open at all times.

When you drive along 3200 North in front of the school, please maintain a single file line as you pull into the second drop-off area (west front of the building). Vehicles should pull all the way forward in single file before stopping.

All passengers should exit and enter vehicles on the curb side of the vehicle. Please do not allow children to depart or approach your vehicle until you are curbside. The outer lane of the driveway is for people exiting the school. Do not use the parking lot as a drop off or pick up lane.

Parents should remain in the vehicle. Do not leave your car unattended by the curb. If you have school business, please leave your vehicle in the parking lot. Designated crosswalks and sidewalks must be used instead of cutting through parking lots and crossing streets. Let's keep our kids safe!
