OPENING & CLOSING GUIDELINES --

1. Availability of Media Center: Media Centers should be open the first day of school to allow teachers to bring students through the library and meet the Media Specialist/Coordinator.

2. Student Checkout of Materials/Books: Secondary schools should be open for student check out the first day of school. Elementary schools should be ready for student check out within four days of school starting. For example, if school starts on a Wednesday, students would begin coming to the Media Center and checking out books on the next Monday.

3. Elementary Media Center Closing: The students/teachers should have access to the library up until the last week of school. However, the last day for students to check out books will be two weeks prior to the last day of school. Teachers can check out a classroom set of books during the last week of school if desired.

4. Secondary Media Center Closing: High schools may close two weeks prior to graduation day in order to have students pay fines prior to graduation. Individual students who are working on credit necessary for graduation may make personal arrangements with the Media Center for material use. Junior high schools should remain open up to the final five student days of school.
